TAG is it for delicious food, served fast and friendly.

Chicago-based TAG Restaurants, a restaurant management group focusing on freshly made food from scratch in both full service, quick casual and grab & go locations with an emphasis on non-traditional retail locations. George & Manolis Alpogianis are the third generation of their family owned and operated restaurants in Chicago.

TAG Restaurants currently owns and operates six locations in Chicago and one in the northern suburb of Morton Grove.

Growing up with family and food at the center, the Alpogianis’ destiny to operate restaurants was inevitable. Both of grandfathers owned and operated restaurants in the Windy City with Gus’ father owning a diner in Wrigleyville while his wife's father owned a restaurant, nightclub and fast food restaurant in Chicago's Greektown. When returning from the Korean war, Gus opened The Palace Grill with his brother Michael. Still in operation & now owned by their cousin George, the Palace Grill attracts an eclectic clientele — from President George W. Bush and senators to downtown businessmen and die-hard locals. In 1980, Gus sold the beloved diner when he purchased Kappy’s, a full-service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in Morton Grove.

George Alpogianis has had the privilege of working with great Chicago chefs, such as Chef Pierre Polin and Chef John Hogan, in addition to showcasing his skills at Lawry’s, Rosebud on Taylor Street and South Gate Café in Lake Forest. George’s culinary panache allows him to create delicious, well-rounded menus with a special touch for all TAG Restaurants as well as manage the cooks in the kitchens. Manolis Alpogianis gained experience working with Lettuce Entertain You and California Pizza Kitchen where his passion for people and stream-lined service rounds out the TAG team.

In 1995, TAG launched Carnelli’s Deli at Navy Pier, an Italian-style deli offering a simple yet complete menu of hearty sandwiches built on house baked breads and innovative salads. Carnelli's was first quick-service food tenant to move into Chicago’s #1 tourist attraction Navy Pier with the second being America's Dog & Burger.

America’s Dog & Burger opened in 1996, debuting with a menu of 12 different “city” dogs, including: Atlanta, Baltimore, Charleston, Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City, and more. Since that time, America’s Dog & Burger menu has developed with 8 city dogs, 7 freshly made Black Angus burgers, chicken & salads which has led to be among the highest sales per square foot quick service restaurants at the Pier. With additional locations at Chicago's O'Hare Airport opening in 2010 & a planned Midway Airport location, growth in locations with high volume where high efficiency is required while maintaining a fresh, never frozen menu is appreciated.

The Green Market is O'Hare's first chef driven grab-and-go with it's focus on locally sourced food and beverage products. With two locations, The Green Market has the crowd pleasing items expected at an airport location but the majority of its products are Chicago area made beverages, energy & snack bars and choclolates. It's proven success by focusing on today's traveler's desire to have fresh, high quality food even with limited time led to a second location at O'Hare.

The friendship between the family and Chef Art Smith is basic...love of family brought together with food. Chef Art Smith’s Reunion celebrates the friendship of Chef Art, Manolis, George and their dear friend Margie in coming together after a troubling time to celebrate the true meaning of life & laughter focusing on the appreciation of friendship and family. Reunion is a snappy casual restaurant where Chef Art Smith serves his well known, classic Southern dishes like fried chicken. Navy Pier wanted chef Art Smith at the Pier's front door to complete its mission of having a Chicago concept reflecting today's Chicago and being the epicenter of America's culinary world.
